This assignment, very much like this course, was rewarding for me. Like most of the other assignments, I found myself learning new things as I worked through it. As was the case with the other assignments for the class that required me to go outside of my technological comfort zone, I found myself frustrated and struggling to get things to work properly. As my portfolio came together, however, I became more and more comfortable working with the wiki. Prior to this assignment, I had worked several times with Wikispaces, but had not created a wiki that required multiple pages for instance. So, learning to create links between the pages was at first a difficult task to figure out. Having completed this assignment though, I can honestly say that I now feel comfortable with just about every aspect of the wiki. Beyond that, I came to see that I now have a wide array of tools that I can use with my future classes and that I feel comfortable demonstrating to others.
As I created my digital porfolio, I worked to meet all of the criteria laid out in the rubric and the assignment description. I provided an introduction to the portfolio which contains a professional photo and states the portfolio's contents, purpose and intended audience. Throughout the wiki I provided safe and relevent links, embedded images (the photo and the taxonomy) and a video clip, attatched files, provided examples of tools and how they can be used and I included two fully developed lesson plans that incorporate technology. I provided a link to the NETS Standards and within the explanations of the tools and within the lesson plans stated how they can help educators meet the standards, whether by allowing students to be creative, to collaborate or meet them in another way. I altered text and background color in certain parts of the portfolio, but avoided overusing this capability in order to keep the wiki's appearance as professional as possible. I also included links on each page to the other pages within the portfolio including the home page. By my own self assessment, I believe that my portfolio should score 18+ points on the 21pt rubric that we were provided.
